While I enjoy a good book about nutrition, I certainly don’t open the cover expecting to have a great time. However, this book was nothing short of a fun read. If you find yourself bored-to-tears every time you try to read about nutrition, Fiber Fueled (*affiliate link) may be just what you need.
Not to mention – it’s informative. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, a gastroenterologist, presents the topic of plant-based gut health in a way that is accessible, actionable, and motivational. Fiber Fueled includes relevant info for those suffering from a wide range of gut-related issues, as well as those who may not have issues but aim to maintain their gut health.
While there’s plenty of science, if you’re internally screaming “JUST TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!” this book has a 4-week plan, shopping list and lots of good-for-your-gut recipes.
While you’ll have to read it yourself for all the great info, below are Dr. B’s favorite gut-healthy foods. AKA: F-GOALS.
F: Fruit & Fermented – The first thing I made after reading this book was our simple fermented carrots. ?
G: Greens & Grains – Mix grains & greens in our Avocado Quinoa Salad!
O: Omega-3 Super Seeds – Throw flax and chia seeds in your smoothie, oatmeal, salad, stir-fry, etc.
A: Aromatics (i.e., onions, garlic) – Chives & garlic cashew dip anyone?
L: Legumes – There’s sooo many yummy ways to incorporate these small-but-mighty foods into your day. For starters, check out 15 of our favorite bean-based recipes.
S: Sulforaphane (broccoli sprouts and other cruciferous veggies) – Here’s a flavorful Asian Peanut Broccoli Salad, featuring one of our favorite cruciferous stars! ???
