The Latest Happenings: May Edition

Hey there!

I can’t decide if I should say “It’s already May?!” or “It’s finally May!” Each day in April went by slowly but the month seemed to fly by. Things that happened last week feel like they were yesterday, yet it also feels like we’ve been social distancing for years. Is anyone else in the same boat?

We hope you and your family are happy and healthy and soaking up this spring weather! Here’s an update on what we’ve been doing this past month. We’d love to hear from you! What’s keeping you busy at home?

Walks, walks, and more walks

I think we’ve hit a PR for most walks in a 6 week period. Jeff and I live in an apartment so we don’t have many excuses to go outside other than for walks. Therefore, we’ve been going on 2 or 3 walks everyday. We typically start with a 1 to 2 mile walk with Milo ? because that’s all his little legs can handle. Then we bring him home and Jeff and I venture out further. It’s interesting to look back on what we did with our time the first couple weeks of social distancing compared to what we do now. Some things have stuck in our routine (walks, aimless drives, bike rides) and others haven’t (puzzles, wearing jeans, makeup). And some well-intended things never started (the quilt I bought the fabric for 3 years ago). ?

Spring is here!

Spring technically started on March 19th but it hasn’t really felt like spring until the last few days, here in Indiana. Everything seems to be blooming and green and my allergies are full force, so Spring Has Arrived! One of the perks of being stuck at home is being more present and appreciative. I’m usually too busy to stop and smell the roses notice that the roses are blooming. But now, with nothing but time, they’re hard to miss! The changing of the seasons from winter to spring seems to have happened in slow motion. Over the past few weeks I’ve watched this magnolia tree bloom because we walk past it every day. ?

Fancy New Toy

Our recipe photographs have come a long way in the last three years. We started out using our phones and clumsily snapping pictures of our plate right before sitting down to eat. The lighting was awful, the pictures were blurry, the food didn’t look appetizing, etc. But we tried! About a year in we switched to a Canon Rebel T3 that our mom loaned us. It was old and not ideal… but FREE! Beggars can’t be choosers, right? That’s what we’ve been using for the last two years and that’s what the majority of our photographs on the blog were taken with (we’ve been trying to go back and reshoot the old, sad photos). Now, 3 years and 327 blog posts later ?, we’ve decided it’s time for an upgrade. After much research, deliberation, and pestering blogger/photographer friends with questions (sorry guys) we’ve landed on this baby… a Canon 6D mark ii. ???

Latest Happenings: Pet Edition

I keep coming across posts on social media about pets being annoyed that their humans are now home all day long. Milo’s response has been quite the opposite. He typically finds a warm, cozy spot near by and supervises us while we work. Us being home constantly, combined with averaging 2 walks each day and sleeping in… he’s quite the happy social-distancing pup!

Now I’ll leave you with this adorable picture of Milo. ❤️

Later Gators! ?
