The Latest Happenings: March Edition

Hi, there! Lexie here.

Where did the last two months go? It feels like I was just writing the January Latest Happenings last week. Not only is it already March, but I’m a week late! Time flies when you’re super busy having fun! ? Here’s what’s been keeping us busy…

Monster Truck Jam

Yes, you read that right. For Christmas this last year we gifted my brother and sis-in-law Monster Truck Jam tickets. I don’t know what I loved more… the vegan restaurant we ate at before called Three Carrots ?, or the Monster Truck Jam. If you’re in the Indy area, you’ve gotta try the restaurant Three Carrots. Not sponsored – just that good. If you’ve never been to a Monster Truck Jam… what are you doing..?!

Nat’s Pregnant!

In her Latest Happenings Feb Edition, Nat spilled the beans that she’s expecting! If you missed it, check it out here. She’s now rockin’ an unmistakable baby bump and has embraced her role as DD (joking!.. eh, not really). As for me, I’m having way too much fun picking out the most adorable, mostly food-related, onesies ? and am so ready to be the most awesome aunt!

My Favorite Recent Recipe

Our Foil Wrapped Burritos with Simple Queso have been my go-to lunch lately and every time I eat them I love them even more. A few weeks ago I made what seemed like a million and stashed them in the freezer. Those have been a life-saver when packing my lunch in the morning. Especially since it’s the middle of the spring semester — we all know waking up early to pack a lunch like an adult is no longer happening. ?‍♀️ All you students/teachers out there… you understand.

Armchair Expert Podcast

My 45 minute drive to work this year has turned me into a podcast lover. These last few months I’ve been listening to Armchair Expert by Dax Shepard. He primarily interviews famous people, although occasionally interviews experts (psychologists, anthropologists, doctors, etc). All of the episode are good, but the expert episodes are so so good. If you like podcasts, give the Armchair Expert a go. Also – I’ll gladly take any podcasts recommendations – please & thanks!

Orange Theory

Jeff and I have been doing Orange Theory since the fall. For those that aren’t familiar, Orange Theory is a fitness studio with high-energy workout classes. You wear a heart rate monitor and everyone in the class has their heart rates shown on a big screen at the front of the room. You can see what heart rate “zone” you’re in based on your age, height, weight, gender, etc. The idea is to keep your heart rate in the top 3 zones, which (I can attest) gives you a heck of a workout. Before OT, the hardest I had worked out was high school sports conditioning. Pushing myself at the gym just isn’t very effective. But put me in a workout class with my heart rate on the wall and big things happen! With how popular OT is, it seems like lots of other people share that competitive motivation with me. There’s a big draw back though… $$$. The monthly membership fee is steeeeeep and you have to go A LOT to get your money’s worth. My general take-away.. loving it now. probably won’t do it forever.

We’re loving this sunny 60 degree weather, especially since this was our landscape a month ago! This is a photo a snapped on our way home from a morning Orange Theory class in February. Remember that, my midwest people? Spring, hurry up! ☀️

✌️
