Nut Mix

Having an emergency stash of nut mix in your car, purse, desk, etc can be the difference between a healthy snack and resorting to fast food or a vending machine. Making smart food choices becomes increasingly difficult the hungrier you get and the less healthy options you have readily available. Make those food choices easier by having a snack like this on hand at all times.

I know I know… nuts are loaded with calories which means steer clear.. false! Nuts are loaded with fiber, fiber makes you feel full, which as a result suppresses your appetite. When you don’t feel famished its easier to make smart food choice! If that doesn’t convince you then look at the research – academic research studies have found there to be an inverse relationship between nut intake and BMI. Coincidence? I think not.

Nutrient-Packed Nut Mix

When we make this nut/dried fruit mix it's never quite the same, although it's usually pretty similar to the ingredients listed below. Add different ingredients based on your taste preferences! My personal favorite is the dried goji berries. They add some chewiness, sweetness, and a boatload of antioxidants!

Roasted nuts have added vegetable oil because they are fried, not read that right...fried! One more way the food industry has taken a perfectly healthy food item and managed to give it an unhealthy spin! And for the cherry on top, they are also typically salted.
Fear not, there is a solution! ~ the healthiest choice is to choose raw, unsalted nuts. Another good option is to buy dry roasted as those nuts are air roasted rather than fried.
Sometimes it can be difficult to find some of these ingredients, especially in bulk. I recommend first looking in the bulk food section at your local grocery store like Kroger or Fresh Thyme. Another good option is this bulk food website. You can also find a great deal for goji berries on Amazon.

  • This would be a great gift!
Food is a great love language but a sugary food gift that does more harm than good is not very loving. This nut mix is delicious, unique, AND says “Love” in all the right ways.
