A go-to guac recipe is a must. Guacamole is an easy, delicious, and healthful recipe that is great for parties. Or movie-night. Or snack-time. Or.. anytime! You can be confident it will be well-received. Most people love it as an appetizer, but, as we know all too well, a spoonful of guacamole can turn a great dish into an amazing dish.
This guac recipe can be whipped up in a matter of minutes and you can make it your own by adjusting the spices to your preference. If your crowd likes it spicy, add a dash of cayenne. If you want a super creamy guac, use an immersion blender. If you like your guac chunky, use a fork and big chunks of onions and tomatoes. This recipe is a great base for whatever your preferences are!
The base of guacamole is – of course – avocados. ??? These are full of healthy fats, vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and even fiber. Because of their fat content, avocados are higher in calories than most fruits (yes – they’re a fruit!). However, avocado-consumers have better diet quality and a lower BMI than those who don’t eat avocados. Bring on the guac!
With this being said, if your goal is to lose weight, we recommend using a spoonful of guacamole to add flavor and texture but avoid eating the entire bowl.
Serve this guacamole with raw veggies such as bell pepper sticks or rutabaga slices or baked tortilla chips (check out our homemade tortilla chip recipe!) or use it to top just about anything: Loaded Breakfast Sammy, Loaded Fajitas Quesadillas, Red Bean & Lentil Tacos, Mile-High Nachos, Bomb Beet Burgers, Mexican Lasagna, or South of the Border Savory Waffles.
