Nutritional Yeast

Nutritional Yeast has a cheesy/nutty flavor which makes it perfect for sprinkling on top of or mixing in any recipe that might typically have cheese. The options are limitless, but some of our go to’s are sprinkling it on pizza, veggies, soups, popcorn, salads, pasta and beans. It’s easy to find in most grocery stores. In Kroger it’s in the health food or baking section and some stores sell it in the bulk food section.

When avoiding animal products we have to make sure we get enough Vitamin B12. Nutritional Yeast contains Vitamin B12, along with some fortified Almond milk and Coconut milk brands.

Technically speaking, Nutritional Yeast is a deactivated yeast product that is rich in B Vitamins. It’s nutrient-dense, meaning it supplies a generous amount of nutrients compared to calories – so we should take advantage!
